Prior to development the parking garage area was occupied by a brick senior center and several wood-built apartments with associated paved areas. This site sloped from north to south with an elevation change of approximately 20’. Based on our soil borings and observations, the site was suitable for construction of the parking garage. The building was supported on a combination of spread footings and auger cast piles due to “soft” fill and residual soils. On part of the site, our analysis indicated total settlements of 2.5” in areas where existing fill is present.
